Personal Branding Agencies Vetted by Mashman Consulting Group

The Vetting Standard

How every personal branding agency is vetted

Before any agency appears in this directory, it completes a review conducted by Mashman Consulting Group. Vetting is free for every applicant. No listing is bought, and no criterion is waived, including for the founder's own agency.

The Seven Criteria

Criterion 01

Code of Ethics

A signed commitment to the PBA Code of Ethics: a standing pledge against the manipulative tactics saturating this industry. Breaking it, or disagreeing with any part of it, ends a listing.

Criterion 02

AI Disclosure

A published position on how the practice uses artificial intelligence. Using AI is not disqualifying. Concealing it is, and so is using it to manufacture a perception a client has not earned. The disclosure is published on the listing.

Criterion 03

Primary Focus: Personal Branding

Personal branding must account for at least 70 percent of the practice's work: at least seven of every ten clients served are personal brand engagements, not incidental to a different business line. Many listed practices also take on B2B or unrelated work, and that is fine. What is not fine is a practice for which personal branding is a minor offering, listed here on the strength of unrelated work, since this remains a small, specific niche and the directory exists to represent it, not general marketing or business consulting.

Criterion 04

Specialization

A defined lane, stated plainly. Practices claiming to serve everyone are asked what they actually do best.

Criterion 05

Verifiable Website

A live site that plainly identifies the business and what it does.

Criterion 06

Verifiable Social Media Footprint

At least one active, public professional profile that can be independently confirmed to belong to the practice.

Criterion 07

Legitimate Legal Filing

A registered business entity, or a properly filed sole practice. Whatever form the practice takes, it must exist on the record somewhere we can check.

Criterion 02 in practice: the operator's own disclosure

Criterion 02 asks every agency to publish how it uses artificial intelligence. It would be an odd standard to set without meeting it, so here is MCG's own disclosure, published in full. It is also the reference this criterion is written against.

Mashman Consulting Group believes that artificial intelligence is the near equivalent of a spotter or personal trainer in the gym. It exists to empower, guide, and help, but not to do the heavy lifting of intellectual property creation, speaking cadence, or what would otherwise be human engagements.

MCG publicly acknowledges its own use of AI in business and promotional operations, but fully rejects unethical practices and misuse.

In personal branding specifically, artificial intelligence is a very powerful tool that opens up avenues for misrepresentation and disproportionate perception, which we are wholly against.

If you have any questions about how the firm is utilizing AI, you can reach out to us at contact@personalbrandingagencies.com (opens in a new tab).

Note what this does and does not say. It acknowledges AI use openly rather than denying it. What it rejects is misuse: letting a tool do the heavy lifting of intellectual property or speaking voice, and using it to create misrepresentation or disproportionate perception. An agency that uses AI and says so plainly meets this criterion. An agency that uses it and hides it does not.

What vetting is, and what it is not

Vetting confirms the identity, stated credentials, and ethics commitment of a listed agency at the time of review. It is a verification of who an agency is and what it has agreed to. It is not a guarantee of results, and it is not an endorsement of any particular engagement.

Personal Branding Agencies and Mashman Consulting Group do not broker engagements and are not a party to any client and agency agreement. Clients should still conduct their own due diligence. If a listed agency breaks the Code of Ethics after being vetted, that is what the reporting process is for: confirmed violations end in permanent removal.
