The Foundation, Live Today

The directory exists to answer one question for anyone hiring help with a personal brand: who can you actually trust? Everything on the road ahead builds on what is already live.

  1. LivePractices and clients

    The Vetted Directory

Every practice checked against seven public criteria and the Code of Ethics. Free to apply; impossible to buy into.

    What it means
    For practices
Listing is free and earned on the same terms as everyone else.
    For clients
Every practice you find has met the same published standard.
  2. LivePractices and clients

    The Editorial

Long-form writing on personal branding, published by listed practices under their own names.

    What it means
    For practices
A place to publish, with your name and your practice on the byline.
    For clients
Learn from the people doing the work before you hire one.
  3. LiveFor clients

    The PBA Power Ranking

Practices ranked by verified client reviews, weighted so a rating has to be earned.

    What it means
    For practices
A rank you can only earn, never buy.
    For clients
A ranking with nothing paid behind it.
  4. LivePractices and clients

    The Directory Report

The whole directory as a printed book, published live, with an official edition every month.

    What it means
    For practices
See the company you will keep, edition by edition.
    For clients
Every vetted practice in one document, free to download.

    For clients
Hear when practices that fit what you need join the directory.
  3. BuildingPractices and clients

    Contributors and Content

Growing the number of contributors and the content they publish: more editorial, more perspectives, more depth.

Optional exposure, always labeled, never a shortcut past vetting.
    For clients
Paid placement is always labeled, so you always know.

The promise

Leads Are Never for Sale.

Whatever the road brings, Personal Branding Agencies will never become a gatekeeper for leads, and will never charge for them. A client reaches a practice directly, and always will.

We will never

  • Turn the directory into a gatekeeper between clients and the practices they choose
  • Charge a practice for a lead, an introduction, or a client
  • Sell approval, a rating, a rank, or protection from a report

What we charge for

For practices

  • Tools that help a practice do and show its work
  • Resources that make the work better
  • Training for professionals building a practice
  • Additional exposure opportunities, always labeled as paid

For buyers

  • Opportunities of their own, such as the PBA Concierge: PBA evaluates the scope of a buyer’s project and helps facilitate the best fits, paid for by the buyer, never by the agency

Everything on this roadmap is subject to change. Dates, names, and details will move as the directory learns what practices and the people who hire them need most. Our ethics never will: the vetting standard, the Code of Ethics, and the promise above hold whatever the road brings.

Questions About the Roadmap

Will Personal Branding Agencies ever charge for leads?

No. PBA will never charge a practice for a lead, an introduction, or a client, and will never become a gatekeeper between the people hiring and the practices listed. Buyers contact practices directly.

How will the directory make money?

From tools, resources, training, and additional exposure opportunities for practices, always labeled as paid, and from opportunities of their own for buyers, such as the PBA Concierge. Vetting and a standard listing stay free.

What is the PBA Concierge?

A buyer service being explored for late 2027 to 2028: PBA evaluates the scope of a buyer's project and helps facilitate the best fits from the directory. The buyer pays for it. Agencies never do.

When is the first State of Personal Branding Report?

It is planned for late 2027 to 2028, and then every year: what the directory and its practices see across the field. The first in-person event is planned for 2029.

Can the roadmap change?

Yes. Dates, names, and details are subject to change as the directory learns what practices and buyers need. The ethics will not: the vetting standard, the Code of Ethics, and the promise never to sell leads hold.
